North Dakota and Wyoming Camping

North Dakota and Wyoming Camping

Staci and I wanted to try out dry camping, which is camping with no source of water and electric or ability to dump tanks. We initially drove up to Devil’s Tower and stayed on a large piece of property we found on Hipcamp. We continued to North Dakota where we climbed the High Point (White Butte Mountain) and then drove up to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. From there we headed to the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming.

Getting into the Cloud Peak Wilderness area means crossing the West Tensleep Creek. It was about 30 feet across and 3 feet deep at one point.

We ran/hiked from West Tensleep trailhead to Florence pass. Lake Helen is one of 7 lakes you pass on that trail. All of the lakes in the Bighorns were very pristine and beautiful.

We spent the last night in Laramie on the way home. The only good trail we found was in Greenbelt park along the creek.
